FAQ’s

Here you can find answers to my most frequently asked questions. Please feel free to contact me with any additional queries you may have!

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?

A non-refundable deposit of £50-00 is required to secure any booking.

HOW DO I CONFIRM A BOOKING?

Once you decide to go ahead with a booking, you can let me know by phone, text or email. I will then forward you my booking form which contains all the details that you need regarding confirming the booking and paying the deposit. I normally send this out via email, but I can post this out to you on request. Once I receive your completed booking form and deposit, I will then email (or post) your letter of confirmation. The booking is then fully confirmed. Deposits can be paid via BACS or cheque and my full details will be on the form.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I have a range of PA equipment that can be adapted to a wide variety of spaces, from the smallest house parties to larger functions with audiences of hundreds. My main PA system consists of 2 x QSC K8 Powered Speakers (1000 watts RMS each) and a Yamaha MG10XU Analog USB Mixer. I use a Shure 55SH vintage style vocal microphone and play my high-quality backing tracks through an iPod. For outdoor gigs and medium-sized indoor venues I use a Yamaha Stagepas 600BT Portable PA System. For the smallest venues I use an LD Systems Mix 10 AG3 Active all-in-one PA Speaker (200 watts RMS power), which also doubles as a monitor at my larger gigs.

WE ARE HOLDING A PARTY IN OUR OWN HOME AND ARE LIMITED ON SPACE. CAN YOU STILL PERFORM?

No problem! In addition to my main PA system, I have a compact, all-in-one PA speaker system that is ideal for use in smaller venues.

HOW LONG DO YOU SING FOR?

This is agreed at the time of booking. My standard performance is 2 x 45 minute sets. I can also quote for a 1 x 60 minute set, 2 x 30 minutes, 3 x 30 minutes and 3 x 40 minute sets. A 2 x 40 minute set within a 90-minute period (inc. 10 min break) is a popular option for music during a meal / wedding breakfast. Other combinations are possible, too!

HOW MANY BREAKS DO YOU TAKE? HOW LONG ARE THEY?

This varies from gig to gig, and I like to be as flexible as possible. For the 2 x 45 minute option, I would require a minimum break of 15 minutes in between the two sets, and for 3 x 40 minute sets a minimum of 2 x 20 minute breaks. Don’t worry if you need a longer interval, eg. for food to be served or for a DJ set etc. – anything up to an hour is perfectly normal! If your event requires extra long periods between sets (eg. you may want me to perform a set at an afternoon drinks reception and another at your evening function), then the additional waiting time will be factored into the price at the time of booking.

HOW LONG DO YOU NEED TO SET UP?

It takes approximately 30 minutes for me to set up and sound check my main PA system. For my smaller all-in-one system set up time is just 15 minutes. Please also allow another 20 minutes for me to get changed! In most cases, I like to arrive at a venue an hour before the agreed start time to set up.

HOW MUCH SPACE DO YOU REQUIRE?

For my main PA System, a space of 3m wide x 2m deep is ideal as a minimum, but don’t worry if you are limited on space as I have a range of equipment to suit all spaces!

WHAT DO YOU WEAR ON STAGE?

I have an ever expanding wardrobe of vintage style dresses ranging from the 1920s to the 1960s, including tea dresses, sarong dresses, swing dresses and glamorous evening gowns. I tailor my look to fit in with the theme / ambience of the event.

CAN WE CHOOSE SOME OR ALL OF THE SONGS YOU SING?

Certainly! Just take a look at my extensive repertoire and make your selections!

DO YOU TAKE SONG REQUESTS?

Subject to suitability and availability of a quality backing track in the correct key, I am happy to learn songs that are not already in my repertoire, but this must be agreed well in advance.

CAN YOU PROVIDE BACKGROUND MUSIC IN BETWEEN SETS?

Yes, I am happy to provide background music in between sets at events where there is no DJ. I have playlists ranging from laid back jazz and swing to wartime classics, big band and vintage pop music for dancing! This is not a DJ service, but I can ensure there is music playing when needed!

HOW FAR ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?

I am happy to travel to venues all over the UK.

DO YOU CARRY PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE AND IS YOUR EQUIPMENT PAT TESTED?

Yes. I have public liability insurance through my membership of The Alliance of Musicians & Performers (AMPband) and all my equipment is PAT tested yearly. My documents are available to clients and venues on request.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS?

I will require 1 x car parking space to be provided at the venue (or a viable alternative), 1 x plug socket and somewhere to get changed. Refreshments are also appreciated.
